January is Radon Awareness Month.
Radon is a natural gas that emits from Uranium and is found in the geology of the Rocky Mountains. Radon is odorless and invisible but is deadly at extreme exposures. Surveys indicate that approximately 30 percent of homes in Utah have the potential of being above the United States EPA recommended action level of 4 picoCuries per liter of air (pCi/L). Radon if detected can be mitigated so exposure is minimized. Testing your house or building for Radon is cheap and fast.
