Rear Loader Truck History
The Garwood Load Packer
This basin to the left was scraped clean by the large blade above. It acts as a claw to scrape and push the garbage back further into the truck.
The Garwood Load Packer was the first truck to use hydraulic blades to pack and push garbage into the back of the truck. This was the frist technolological breakthrough combining hydraulics and packing capabilities.
The Packmaster
The old Leach ‘Packmaster’ was capable of crushing this bug. Its hydraulic compaction
was a technological breakthrough in the 70’s. It allowed appliances, furniture, and other large objects to be crushed with lesser effort
Rear Loader Can
This rear load can is very popular in large cities with narrow streets and tight business properties. The rear load truck is much smaller and can maneuver through Alley-ways easier than a front load truck.
Modern Day Rear Loader
This modern day rear loader is capable
of dumping residential cans and
rear load cans. It has an extra back axle for more weight support, but it’s traditional style remains the same as the packmaster, years before.
