This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.
When Lon Stalsberg purchased his business, ACE Disposal, it was a one-truck operation. In the almost 40 years since then, he has grown it into a thriving company with over 150 trucks and 250 employees.
ACE Disposal is known for moving materials, mainly commercial, industrial and construction waste. Their largest customer base is businesses, apartments and condos, but they serve 12 incorporated cities and do residential pickup as well. In the last 15 years, recycling has become a key part of the business.
Lon comes from a civil engineering background, and he worked for an engineering firm for a few years before he decided he wanted to be his own boss. After he started ACE Disposal, he says he knew he found his true business calling. He watched his dad run a successful business as a child and gained valuable insights for his own operation. He’s used this knowledge to make smart decisions, like keeping capital on hand for new equipment, for future growth and acquisitions.
This is a competitive industry, and when Lon started ACE Disposal, there were many independent companies and only a handful are left. Lon is proud of the success for ACE Disposal due in large part to the dedicated employees who are providing safe and reliable service.
